Sam Feldt tells us about his new Heartfeldt Records [Interview]

Sam Feldt

After the last release Hold Me Close, by Sam Feldt and the arrival of the new label Heartfeldt Rec we had a huge Q&A with the young Dutchman and we were told some important details of this new project.

Hello Sam, thanks for being here with us on EDM Lab, the Italian blog about Electronic Dance Music, mainly focused on the new releases.

  • We love and enjoy discovering new music of quality, and you are among the artists that regularly release many high-quality songs. Your recent single “2 Hearts” aired massively in the radios. Would you like to share something more about your new “Hold me Close”?

Hold Me Close” is the first release on my own label Heartfeldt Records.I’m really happy I got to work with Ella Henderson on it because she’s crazy talented and it was amazing to work with her. She really knows what she wants and her voice was the perfect fit for the song.

  • Listening to your productions, it is undoubtful that you enjoy melodic sounds that particularly fit the radio airplay. Is there any other genre that you would like to experiment with?

I definitely like the tropical and melodic vibes which can often be found in my productions but I don’t think I have a particular genre. If I hear a sound or a melody I like I’ll experiment with it regardless of the what genre it could be. I guess my genre is just Sam Feldt!

  • According to your personal experience, what is the direction that the EDM phenomenon is taking for the next future?

I think more and more DJ’s will jump on the opportunity to develop an electronic live act, as I have done over the past couple of years. Electronic acts will have to become more creative when it comes to live productions and their performances. Crowds will probably expect more than just a guy standing behind his set on a stage. I’d also love to see the EDM scene evolve towards a more sustainable future.

  • Is there any artist that you would like to collaborate with, and why?

I’m always looking for interesting combinations when it comes to collaborations. A Dj like Kygo would be amazing to collaborate with but I could also imagine a collaboration with artists from a different genre like John Mayer or Paul McCartney. It would be crazy to collaborate with Post Malone haha!

  • We are aware that you started your personal label, and we know that you will be in charge of many aspects. Would you like to share something and tell us some stories or anecdotes about Heartfeldt Records?

I’m really proud to be able to combine my passion for music with my mission to create a more sustainable future. With Heartfeldt Records we really want to build a Heartfeldt Family who will give emerging artists a chance to perform at Heartfeldt events and to release on the label. Additionally 1% over the net receipt royalties will go  to the Heartfeldt Foundation in order to fight for a greener and more sustainable future. The music we will be releasing on Heartfeldt Records is music I hold dear. It’s the type of music that is easy to listen to while at home and excels during my sets.

Thanks for your time Samand good luck with new label!
