We’re back to update our #WhoIs? section to introduce you to an English talent who is making her way in the world of Dance music that matters: she is Eliza Rose.
Born in ’91, from East London, she is a lover of good music and at 14 years old she starts working in a record store, Flashback Records in London. From there she develops her love for soul, jazz, funk, disco, house, and UK garage. Soon after, she also starts a radio career where she expresses her passion for vinyl and underground music in the radio show “The Vinyl Factory” on Rinse FM. Eliza is someone who truly has passion inside.
When you live a life surrounded by music, it’s easy to want to become a producer too. So in 2021 she debuted with her first EP called Flame. Inside, there are two tracks in different versions. That same year, her label Rosebud Records is also born, with the goal of promoting authentic UK Garage, soul, and jazz sounds, without filtering the underground London scene she loves so much.
But in 2022 comes the real explosion. Eliza releases Baddest of them All, and the track becomes instantly viral, you probably remember it. Today, with 400 million streams on Spotify, it’s her most played song. Attention on her grows, Eliza sings, produces, and creates her own music.
In 2023 she is recruited by Calvin Harris for Body Moving, and thanks to this collaboration, the way is opened for her outside of the UK world. She also receives her first recognition: she is the first female DJ to be placed at #1 in the Official UK Singles Chart in over 20 years (since 2000), a title that was held for two weeks in a row.
Recently, Eliza Rose came back on the scene with the track Weekend together with the London duo The Trip. It’s a track we also featured in episode #311 of Best of Today #Release. Sung by Eliza herself, it has those little voices that get stuck in your head and a sound very similar to Peggy Gou. It’s her second single of 2025 and it really looks promising. The track is released on Defected Recordings.
