The year was 2011, and “EDM” was not yet “a thing.” It was pretty raw. However, the number of releases associated with this acronym was growing exponentially. A shy guy, Tim Bergling, was producing a melodic song from his computer, a bit far from what was out there, yet already extremely popular among the community of producers, DJs, and clubbers. It was a transition period between the Euro Dance style, a legacy of the ’90s, and some electro-house trends from the early 2000s.
Melody was needed. We all needed Avicii.
Avicii’s official biography is a book that every fan should read.
Everything changed with one song: Levels. Released on 28 October 2011, it was an epic song. Today, it is still remembered as an evergreen. Even though 13 years have passed, we are here to celebrate an artist who has left us too early. An artist whose sound was revolutionary, a passioned and dedicated artist. Everyone knows what happened a few years ago. However, Levels, a few hours ago, and after ten years, entered the Spotify Billions Club after reaching 1 billion streams on the platform.
It is not Tim’s first song to enter such a prestigious club. Hey Brother, Without You, Waiting For Love, The Nights, and Wake Me Up have already joined the club. Speaking of the last one mentioned, Wake Me Up has already reached 2.5 billion.
A spectacular milestone that would have indeed made our beloved Tim happy.
