The 2026 edition of the MTV Video Music Awards has come to an end in Los Angeles, marking one of the most important celebrations of international music and pop culture. Hosted by Snoop Dogg at the Peacock Theater, the biggest stars of the night were Madonna and Taylor Swift, who took centre stage during some of the event’s most memorable moments.
Madonna dominated the night with seven Moon Persons, the highest number of awards won by a single artist at this year’s ceremony. The pop star took home some of the most important honours, including Artist of the Year, Best Album and Best Dance, as well as awards for Confessions II – The Film in the Best Cinematography, Best Choreography and Best Long Form Video categories. She also received an award for her collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter on Bring Your Love.
Taylor Swift also wrote a new page in VMAs history. The singer won the prestigious Video of the Year award for The Fate of Ophelia and Best Direction for Opalite, while also receiving the new MTV VMA Artist Director Honors. With 32 Moon Persons overall, Swift has become the most awarded artist in Video Music Awards history.
Other highlights of the night included BTS, who won Song of the Year and Best K-Pop with SWIM, as well as Best Group. Ariana Grande took home two awards for hate that i made you love me. Further recognition went to Bruno Mars, Cardi B, Bad Bunny, Olivia Rodrigo, PinkPantheress & Zara Larsson, Sabrina Carpenter, Ella Langley and LISA.
BEST DANCE, the category most relevant to us, went to Madonna for the video from her recent album Confessions II. The night also featured special honours: Nirvana received the Video Vanguard Award, while Taylor Swift became the first artist to receive the new Artist Director Honors.
