For several months now, we have been featuring new Krewella tracks in our Best of Today #Release, and now the two sisters are ready to open a new chapter in their career with Peak, their fourth studio album, due for release on September 4.
The title captures the project’s central concept: the “peak” is not a specific moment in life. Krewella reflect on periods of major success as well as those spent away from the spotlight, reaching the realization that growth, difficulties and reinvention are all part of the same journey.
But philosophical reflections aside, the Krewella’s new album, featuring 12 tracks, explores different shades of electronic music. It alternates pop-leaning moments such as “Press Play” and “the blueprint” with the more aggressive sounds of “Hear Me Now” and “Till It Hits”, which recall the duo’s dubstep roots. There is also room for melodic techno influences in “Crying on the Dancefloor” and “Something Sacred”.
The album’s visual component is equally distinctive: the cover was created inside an electronic recycling facility, surrounded by abandoned computers and devices, a symbol of memory and impermanence in the digital age. We love all of this.
The track “Peak” perfectly sums up the album’s message. The album will be celebrated with an exclusive release party in Los Angeles on September 3, in collaboration with Brownies & Lemonade and TikTok LIVE.
