Jean-Michel Jarre: Oxygène 50th Anniversary Edition

If you attended ADE26, you certainly heard about—or, better yet, saw—the legendary Jean-Michel Jarre celebrating the 50th anniversary of Oxygène, his iconic 1976 album.

A special new edition will be released on November 20, 2026.

Originally released in France before conquering the international market in 1977, Oxygène helped bring electronic music to a mainstream audience. The album has sold more than 18 million copies worldwide.

Jarre recorded it in the kitchen of his Paris apartment. He used synthesizers, electronic instruments and an eight-track recorder. As a result, the record became a milestone in electronic music history.

The centrepiece of the new edition is the 2026 remaster of the original stereo mix. The work was completed from the original tapes to preserve the recording’s sound and dynamics.

The release will be available in several formats. These include 180-gram black vinyl, CD, a limited-edition eco-vinyl and a Blu-ray Mediabook Deluxe featuring new Dolby Atmos and 5.1 mixes.

On October 21, during Amsterdam Dance Event, Jean-Michel Jarre presented the immersive concert OXYGENE & BEYOND: A SONIC JOURNEY CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF ADE at AFAS Live.

We were also lucky enough to meet him during ASOT, where he appeared as a guest of Armin van Buuren.

Meanwhile, the artist is working on new music, with further details expected soon. It marks another chapter for one of the pioneers who helped define the sound of modern electronic music.
