The new year just began, but before its arrival, there were rumors about the possible return of the big electronic music Festivals with their 2021 edition. All those crazy and colorful events were canceled last year because of the global pandemic.
The whole world is waiting to return to its everyday life. The EDM community is also waiting for something else: to dance, jump, and shout again.
For this reason, since the cancellation of the entire 2020 season, the organizers of each festival did their best to reschedule the events for the 2021. The main difficulty is still to guarantee the participants’ safety and ensure that festivals can be “Covid-safe.”
It seems that someone succeeded in this. Instead, there is who timidly communicates some dates. Someone else is stalling, but there is also who, unfortunately, already gave up.
We want to help you and clarify this situation. Therefore, we prepared a guide, updated continuously, about the festivals of 2021. The dates are indicative, many of which communicated during the reprogramming in 2020. Depending on the news that each festival’s organization will share, we will update this page.
Ultra Music Festival | Canceled
It is a milestone among electronic music events. It takes place during the annual Winter Music Conference in Miami. The public dates are, for now, those of only three appointments, of which the Miami’s date was canceled (we have talked about it here).

Tomorrowland is probably the most known, chatted, and loved electronic music festival by the audience. The first between the European festivals, every year presents two appointments. Among these, one has already been canceled (we have talked about it here).

EDC: Electric Daisy Carnival | Scheduled / Canceled
EDC is the largest American festival with UMF. Then, it was exported to South-America, Asia, and Europe. This year might take place in four different appointments: two dates in USA, one date in Central America, and the latest one, in Europe, was canceled.

Coachella Festival | Canceled
The first big “multi-genre” festival that we find in this guide, between the main festivals of North-America with UMF and EDC. Unfortunately, official reports affirm that this year, the Empire Polo Club of Indio’s fields will remain silent (we have talked about it here).

Creamfields Festival | Scheduled
Creamfields is between the main European festivals with Tomorrowland. It was exported, before in different locations of England, then in the whole world. In addition to the scheduling of the event, the organizers have also made public the line-up. This latter is already full of important names.

Electric Zoo Festival | Scheduled
This is the youngest festival in this guide until now. It is similar to Coachella, i.e., a “multi-genre” festival. The Electric Zoo take place every year during the weekend of the American “Labor Day”. After a year off, it will probably return on this occasion.

This event is truly singular and suggestive. It is known because it takes place in the middle of a forest. The organizers of the festival have made public that the festival was postponed to August 2022 (we have talked about it here).

Electric Love Festival | Scheduled
It is the most important Austrian festival, among the best known in Europe. As the Electric Zoo, it is very young. However, it already gained the attention of the whole world and a massive arrival of participants.

Untold Festival | Scheduled
The leading Romanian festival that is born a few years ago. It has been awarded, in 2015, which is the year of its creation, as best European festival. In 2021 two are appointments that should be expected according to the organization team’s confirmations (we have talked about it here).

The Airbeat One is a European festival ongoing since approximately twenty years, but became successful only recently. It is characterized by a very particular mainstage, in which the EDM leading artists perform their shows. The dates of the 2021 edition have been made known immediately after the canceling happened in 2020 (we have talked about it here).

Mysteryland Festival | Canceled
It is the most important and old Dutch festival, organized by the same organizer team of the Tomorrowland. It was exported in North and South America. This year it seems to be getting ready to return in its usual European appointment.

The Sònar festival is an electronic music festival and one of the most important multimedia events in Barcelona during the summer. All the electronic music genres converge into it. We can define it as the most “cultured” festival because experimental and avant-gardists artists also take part.

This is between the oldest festivals we can find in this guide. It takes place in a city that exists only for the duration of the event. The Burning Man is undoubtedly the most extreme festival among all, based on self-sufficiency and community concepts. Anyone can bring his art to the Burning Man.

The World Club Dome is among the main German festivals. It is organized by Bigcitybeats radio. It has been proposed in Germany in different versions and then exported in South Corea. It is one of the most important Dutch festivals, and it indeed is the most important European festival of the end of the year. The AMF takes place during the Amsterdam Dance Event, and hosts the ceremony during which, every year, is announced the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs.

The Sunburn is the most important electronic music festival in Asia, that was born after the EDM reaches its peak of diffusion in India. A report dated back in 2014 was ranked at the third place among the world’s biggest festivals immediately after Tomorrowland and UMF.

The Barcelona Beach Festival is one of the most important Spanish festivals, and it is the main event which takes place in Barcelona. It hosts the most important EDM artists every year and takes place on the beach next to the marina, which feeds the event’s suggestiveness.

Defqon.1 Festival | Canceled
The Defqon.1 is the main festival dedicated to the Hard-Dance. It was born about twenty years ago, and it takes place every year in Holland, which is the home of the Hardstyle. It has also been exported in Australia and Chile. For the second consecutive year, unfortunately, the high BPM lovers will not participate in it.
