We often ask ourselves what brings artists to release so much music. In the past months, some, such as David Guetta, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, and Marshmello, have released music like machines! HitMakers with “one song per week.”
Following the ‘Best of Today #Release,‘ these names are the most recurrent. Some of them hit 2 or 3 appearances in a single Friday of releases, thanks to remixes and collaborations.
David Guetta is undoubtedly the leading artist releasing new (although not always so new) music. Recently he has produced so many songs and remixes that we are sure he struggles to remember them all. A few weeks ago, his remake of Blue by Eiffel 65 brought him to his 7th #1 in the UK. Since that release on 26 August, in the meantime, he has released a variety of songs and remixes under his name. For example, Living without you with Sam Ryder, many remixes of I’m good (blue), and collaboration with ARTBAT in a Melodic-Techno key. Did we forget something?
Then a tweet arrives.
“4th Most Streamed Artist in the world on @spotify! As dance music artists, we were underdogs for too long. Now more than ever, we are making an impact! I’m living a dream, and this incredible support of my music, which is my entire life, means the world to me. Thank you all”
Shortly, David Guetta became the 4th most streamed artist on Spotify. He sits next to giants of the Pop world, such as Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, and Justin Bieber. This is followed by Harry Styles, who keeps hitting streams and remaining on the top of the wave.
The Francese artist also released a videogame called “David Guetta Experience,” which we covered here.
So, this is why an artist releases so much music nowadays. But times have changed, and music is “liquid;” thus, it flows away quickly.
If you want to stay in fans’ minds (also on the top of charts, playlists, and the radio’s airplay), you ought to be there, anyway and anywhere.
This is the recipe for a legendary career such as David Guetta’s.
