We’ve been eagerly waiting for this ever since the premiere of David Guetta at this year’s EDC Mexico (Video), and now, at last, the highly anticipated collaboration with Alesso, Never Going Home Tonight, is finally here.
It could have been the song of Summer 2024, although with Guetta’s constant stream of hits, it would have been tough competition. Yet, after months of anticipation, Guetta and Alesso chose to drop the track just as summer comes to an end. With its progressive style, steady beats, and that nostalgic touch of EDM that makes you dream, Never Going Home Tonight brings us straight back to the Golden Age of our beloved genre, almost like a gift from the artists.
Speculation after speculation built up the hype around this track throughout the festival season. From the first play mentioned above, it wasn’t immediately clear who was behind the vocals. Based on the tone, some die-hard fans thought it could be Lana Del Rey making a comeback in the electronic music scene. Digging deeper into similar vocal tones, another name that popped up was Winona Oaks, now simply known as Oaks. However, after ruling out these two amazing voices, it was revealed that the track features the vocals of Madison Love.
Madison is a singer-songwriter from Los Angeles who has written songs for major pop artists like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Camila Cabello, Kesha, and other big names. She is far from a newcomer, and she showcases her talent brilliantly on this track, which could easily rank among the best of 2024.
#FunFact: The official video for the track highlights some of Alesso‘s most notable recent gigs, such as his performance at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre and his appearances alongside Guetta at Ushuaia Ibiza.
