#10TRACKS | Urban Room – March ’23

The beginning of our #10TRACKS is all female, starting with Nicki Minaj and her “Red Ruby Da #10TRACKSSleeze” in which there is the unique sample of “Never Leave You” by Lumidee from 2003. The dissing contained in the lyrics is also between female colleagues and seems aimed at Megan Thee Stallion, who she had worked with on “Hot Girl Summer” a few years ago.

“Weedkiller,” the debut album by Ashnikko, will be out on June 2. The 27-year-old North Carolina native had made her mark with a mixtape and some good hit singles in 2020/2021. Let’s listen to her new trap/reggae song “Worms.”

#10TRACKSEmerging New Yorker Lola Brooke, on the other hand, has yet to release her first mixtape, which will certainly include “So DISRESPECTFUL.”

Quavo of the Migos, opens his 2023 with “Greatness” in which he celebrates his career and loved ones, including the lamented Takeoff.

After the success of the debut solo album “Jack in the Box” released in July ’22, the most urban
of the #10TRACKS BTS namely J-Hope, collaborates with J. Cole to “On the Street“.

We then move to the UK with “Groupie” by the trio formed in the ’96 Nafe Smallz and the more seasoned Krept & Konan.

#10TRACKSWe find again the rapper who had collaborated with Nafe Smallz in 2020 for the collaborative mixtape “DNA.” It is M Huncho with the more introspective “Conspiracy Charges“.

Major Lazer‘s EP “Piano Republik” dedicated to the afrobeat genre has been released. It also includes “Mamgobhozi” sung by South African Brenda Fassie.

Also among the genre’s most popular is Nigerian Adekunle Gold, here with Zinoleesky in “Party No Dey Stop“.

We close today’s #10TRACKS with a cult artist. It is Usher, who after two years of
recording silence, returns with the R&B ballad “GLU.”#10TRACKS
