#10TRACKS | Urban Room – July ’23

Back in the #10TRACKS and at the top of the US and UK charts, the newly 30-year-old rapper Gunna #10TRACKSwith “fukumean.” Sales of the fourth album “A Gift & a Curse” released a month ago benefit from the success of this trap-banger.



From the soundtrack of one of the most anticipated films of the year, in theaters July 21, we hear “Barbie World” by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice, with the unmistakable sample by Aqua.


#10TRACKSThe Weeknd is the executive producer, lead actor and author of much of the soundtrack for the TV series “The Idol.” Along with the episodes, one or more tracks are released each week on streaming platforms. Among the best songs is “False Idols“, on which Lil Baby and Suzanna Son also collaborate.



As good friends as well as colleagues, Tyga and YG collaborate often enough to have released two singles sequentially in 2023, namely “West Coast Weekend” and the more recent “Platinum.”


One of the record cases of the year is ’00 Kaliii from Atlanta with “Area Codes“, first viral on TikTok and now rising in the UK and US top40s.


We move to the UK with “Toxic Trait” by Stormzy and Fredo, both 29 years old but with decidedly different careers. In fact, the former has a long collection of platinum records while his Moroccan/Barbadian-born colleague had a brief period of notoriety in 2019/2021.


William Nzobazola aka Ninho, is the French rapper of Congolese descent, who can boast diamond records #10TRACKSand international collaborations with Lil Baby and Central Cee. Let’s listen to “Eurostar” the track with fellow Londoner, included on the current album “NI.”



Ozuna and many others from the Latin scene, do not miss a foray into the afrobeat genre and Puerto Rican Farruko with “Pasa_je_ro” also follows this trend.

Whereas on the Afro originals side, Nigerians SPINALL and Wizkid collaborate for the first time on the single “Loju.”


#10TRACKSWe close #10TRACKS with an R&B outsider namely Victoria Monét who at the age of 30 is about to release her debut album “Jaguar II,” preceded by “On My Mama“.
