Since 1988, the DJ Awards has stood as the longest-running competition in the global electronic music scene. In recent years, the event has returned as an independent award that values talent based only on merit. Unlike other popular polls, the DJ Awards nominations are chosen by a Grand Jury made up of industry experts and representatives from over 50 international music brands. This guarantees an authentic and wide representation of the many faces of the electronic scene.
The genre categories and nominations for the 2025 edition have just been announced, with public voting now open. This edition comes with special attention to gender balance: in every category there will be at least two female artists. Also, two brand-new sections make their debut: Balearic, dedicated to the timeless sound of the White Isle, and Hard Dance/Bounce, a genre that has strongly come back in recent months.
Among the confirmed categories are Afro, House, Techno, Tech House, Trance, Drum & Bass, Latin/Reggaeton, Prog/Melodic, Garage/Bassline, Live Act, International DJ, Breakthrough and Newcomer. Alongside these, there will also be the special awards, such as Track of the Summer, Party of the Summer, Lifetime Achievement, and the social recognition Play It Back Award.
In the past 2024 edition, artists such as Black Coffee (Afro), Sam Divine (House), Armin van Buuren (Trance), CamelPhat (Progressive House), Chase & Status (Drum & Bass), and Fisher (International DJ) stood out. The prestigious Ibiza Icon Award went to Luciano.
