Almost simultaneously with the long-awaited return of the iconic radio show “Hardwell On Air” (we talked about it here), the king of Revealed, Hardwell, has released his highly anticipated new collaboration with Nicky Romero.
After the release of “Beta,” occurred in 2011, a full twelve and a half years ago, the two giants of electronic music join forces again to create a new moment of musical magnificence. The result is “I Wanna Dance,” in collaboration with singer Meryll, who already has several collaborations under her belt in the EDM scene.
A track that primarily reflects the style of Hardwell 2.0. The kick is always the same, huge and pounding. The lead is not much different from the one used in “Shotgun” (we talked about it here), a Hard and Rave atmosphere in which is contained all of Hardwell’s nostalgia for the sounds we used to call “Electro” years ago.
Unfortunately, “I Wanna Dance” does not contain a major stylistic imprint from Nicky Romero. Although the Protocol Recordings monarch is one of the world’s most eminent producers, in recent times he has yet to unequivocally embrace any of the current stylistic currents so much as to identify with a specific sound. Probably the beloved Dutch artist is still fine-tuning the style that will make him recognizable during these twenties of the 21st century.
