It has been two years since Skrillex released something official. During this period, we only have listened to some collaborations like Ego Death with Ty Dolla $ign, Kanye West, and FKA twigs (we talked about it here) or his productions for Bieber’s latest album (read about it here). So, there are no original productions from him since exactly 29 August 2019, when Midnight Hour was nominated at the Grammy Awards (as Kliptown Empyrean was released just unofficially on his YouTube channel).
Butterflies was composed featuring the most talented producer Four Tet and the singer/songwriter Starrah, and the typical beat of Sonny characterizes it. He learned to develop this style in recent years. It is direct and dynamic, easy-listening but complicated in production, as it presents several electronic nuances. This has become a signature to recognize the American producer for the most hardcore listeners.
Over a year, Skrillex has completed both the mix and the master of his album, waiting for the right moment to release it, probably taking into account a world tour. Meanwhile, let’s enjoy Butterflies.
