The American DJ/producer The Blessed Madonna (a.k.a. The Black Madonna) opens 2024 with a new radio single that immediately sticks in the headlines.
Happier, comes after the lucky tunes Mercy and Shades Of Love, released in 2023. The record retraces more or less the same sounds as its predecessors, which are always somewhere between modern RnB and radio-friendly Uk House. The mood of the vocals of The Blessed Madonna’s tracks always has Gospel influences that give them a special magic. In fact, the American artist seems to want to meticulously choose the singers of her songs, as well as to study excellently the sounds to be used.
Happier is sung by Clementine Douglas, not new to Dance sounds (cf. ‘I Got Nothing‘ by MEDUZA and ‘Asking’ by Sonny Fodera and MK). The combination of all these factors leads us to take one thing for granted: namely, that the pieces of The Blessed Madonna, are never trite and work very well in radio rotation. But this is by no means obvious in a world where copy and paste between music projects is the order of the day. Here is some great music.
