Behind every track, there is a story. But behind the scenes of the track we speak today, there is much more than a story. This is a thread that, through time and events, connects and weaves significant names of the EDM scene. We are talking about the iconic “Show Me Love” by Steve Angello, Laidback Luke, and Robin S.
Everything started a the beginning of the new millennium, on the forum in which Laidback Luke hosted conversations among producers concerning the best music of the moment. These discussions also attended the ones that would later become popular as Afrojack, Bingo Players, and Swedish House Mafia.
Thus was born the friendship between Steve Angello and Laidback Luke, which would then peaked with “Show Me Love.” The producer of Greek origin introduced his track “Voices” on the forum, later remixed by Laidback Luke and released on the still emergent Size Records. These events encouraged new collaborations between Laidback Luke and a still embryonic Swedish House Mafia. The subsequent sessions allowed us to create historic tracks like “Leave The World Behind,” “Break The House Down,” and “Be,” fundamental piece of the puzzle of “Show Me Love.”
But here is the twist. “Show Me Love” is a mashup between the original version of it and “Be.” Who made the original mashup? Hardwell! The Dutch producer was then credited with Steve Angello and Laidback Luke in the official version of the track published in 2009 on Ministry Of Sound and Mixmash Records.
Today, February 5th, 2021, has been released the remixes by Dubdogz and Jauz.
However, the story of “Show Me Love” has some chapters that have yet to be written. Mixmash Records has, in fact, announced a remix contest for fans to decide the future fate of this track. Whose name will be the next in the hall of fame of “Show Me Love”?
