“I love the idea of leaving the party… when I’m still having the most fun I can have.” This is one of the quotes written by Annie Mac on her Instagram account.
For many years, the Irish DJ has been presenting her show named Future Sounds. A fundamental institution for the dance music world and lead show for BBC Radio 1 (live from Monday to Thursday at 6 PM, and on Friday nights). Yes, we are talking about Radio 1’s Dance Party, where she plays the best dance music in the world.
She made history on BBC R1 through her live sessions and live interviews with many influential artists. Still, she has now decided to take a break from the Radio and dedicate herself to her family and write fiction and podcasts. This is not a final stop: Annie Mac promised to come back in front of the mic and said thank you to all the listeners who allowed her to be part of their life every day.
She also said to her fans: “it’s very difficult to explain how this work has meaning for me.”
She also thanked all the artists who appeared on her radio show, without forgetting her colleagues, managers, and the entire radio staff. Her last show will take place this July 30th, 2021; After that, Clara Amfo will take her place in September, while Danny Howard will present the Friday night show.
We want to say thank you to the legendary Annie Mac for all her funniest moments, her incredible professionalism, and all the excellent information she shared about the music during this time. We hope she will come back to the radio with her unmistakable voice.
Good Luck, Annie!
