#10TRACKS | Urban Room – November 2022

To open today’s #10TRACKS we have chosen “Circo Loco” by Drake and 21 Savage from the album “Her Loss”. The sample taken from “One More Time” by Daft Punk will make more than a few disco-music fans alter or move.

In 2022 SZA has published only 3 songs, including “Shirt” topping now the charts. The soul/R&B artist from Missouri, is working on her second album to be released more than five years after her debut “Ctrl.”

After his recent foray into the electro-house genre in Alan Walker’s “Extremes,” he returns to urban-pop with “Karma“. The flow is to Trevor Daniel, same artists of the 2018 hit “Falling”.

November 1 Takeoff from Migos was murdered and “Only Built for Infinity Links” represents his last act, together with his friend Quavo. From this collaborative album we hear “Nothing Changed“.

Among the up-and-comers in the trap scene is 25-year-old DDG, originally from Michigan. In “9 Lives” is supported by the better known but younger NLE Choppa and Polo G.

We move to the UK with two tracks that reprise hits from the recent past, and interestingly, they are both from 2013.

The emergent M24 in “Covering My Ears” borrows the sample of “La La La” by Naughty Boy.

Instead, the better-known SwitchOTR after the hit”Coming For You”, wants to stay high on the charts thanks to the nostalgic “Love Me Again” by John Nemwan.

He is 32 years old but already part of the afrobeat/R&B elite. “More Love, Less Ego” is the title of Wizkid‘s fifth album from which we hear “Money and Love“.

The new neo-soul star in the UK is Pip Millett from Manchester. From the debut album “When Everything Is Better, I’ll Let You Know,” we have selected. “Walk Away“.

We close out the #10TRACKS with the magnetic “Garden” of the Anglo-Nigerian Bellah, from the third album “Adultsville”.
